Enzymes catalyse biochemical reactions. This introductory course in enzymology is designed to help students understand the basics about enzymes; definition, factors affecting their activity, isolation and purification as well as control. It will also overview basic aspects of enzyme kinetics. This will serve as a platform for advanced courses in enzymology, specifically for students in biochemistry.

Bioenergetics is an essential course in biochemistry covering aspects of energy generation, utilization and coupling in metabolic processes. These aspects as well as the associated parameters and their relationship to the prediction of spontaneity of biochemical reactions is the focus.
