Objectives of the Course

This course has been designed to serve two purposes. The first is to survey the evolution of monetary policy and the various theories of monetary economics shaped to measure the cost, availability and direction of money in the economic system. The second purpose is to analytically explain monetary policy and look at the bi-direction of money as wealth or as means.

Objectives of the Course

Examines policy options, with their strategic trade-offs and operational implications, for the design and implementation of public finance in both high-income countries as well as developing and transitional economies. Covers the role and size of the public sector, including the rationale for public sector interventions such as market failure and distributional concerns; key factors determining a nation’s fiscal architecture; public resource mobilization via user charges and taxation (including the economics of taxation, taxation of income, wealth, consumption and trade, tax incentives, tax compliance and enforcement, and tax reform); public expenditure policy, including assessment of government social protection programs and public sector efficiency and effectiveness; fiscal balance and deficit financing; and fiscal decentralization and intergovernmental fiscal relations. Emphasizes utilization of theoretical and applied techniques in a comparative context for evaluation of the impact of alternative resource mobilization and expenditure policies on allocative efficiency, social equity, and economic growth.

Enzymes catalyse biochemical reactions. This introductory course in enzymology is designed to help students understand the basics about enzymes; definition, factors affecting their activity, isolation and purification as well as control. It will also overview basic aspects of enzyme kinetics. This will serve as a platform for advanced courses in enzymology, specifically for students in biochemistry.

 This is a biology course designed for all the Science majors in the College of Basic and Applied Sciences.  The course content is designed to give Bachelor of Science students a foundational knowledge of scientific enquiry, the basic concepts, organization, diversity and interactions in biology.

Organic chemistry is the chemistry that involves the scientific study of structure, properties, and reactions of organic compounds and organic materials. Such as: Matter in its various forms that contain carbon atoms. Study of structure includes physical and chemical methods to determine the chemical composition and the chemical constitution of organic compounds and materials. Study of properties includes both physical properties and chemical properties, and uses similar methods as well as methods to evaluate chemical reactivity, with the aim to understand the behaviour of the organic matter in its pure form.

The study of non-Aqueous Solvents and Metal Carbonyls enables the students to understand the various properties, chemical changes and solute-solvent interaction as well as the characteristics of a solvent.

This lecture provides the students the opportunity to understand accounting depreciation i.e the definition of depreciation, causes of depreciation, method of depreciation. For the teaching learning process to be  effective, the lecturer adopted the activity based teaching technique that enables both the lecturer and the students to part take in the process. Feedback from the students was fair as few questions were asked to evaluate their level of understanding.
